How To Make A Big Life-Changing Decision (The Two Paths Tool)
Do you have a big decision that's weighing you down? Do you want to know which choice is best for you right now? Here is one simple exercise you can do right now to get the clarity and relief you are looking for.
I call this my "Two Paths" tool but you can call it whatever you want to.
Talking To Your Heart
First off, put your hand on your heart. This alerts your body, mind and
spirit that you're going to be talking to your heart and not to your
brain.
Breathe.
Feel the warmth of your hand on your heart-space. Sink into that fantastic place and allow your "inner knowing" to perk up and take notice.
Now envision two paths (or more if you have them).
For example, one path could be keeping your family the size it is and another path could be having another baby.
Or one path could be keeping your house and another path putting it on the market this month.
Travel the Paths
With your hand on your heart travel down one path with the intent that
you see how the path feels to you. You look down the road to see who
you are at the end of that path – what qualities and personality traits
are amplified in you through walking that path?
Then bring your awareness back to your heart and breathe once or twice.
Now go down the second path and do the same thing.
Then come back to your heart center again.
Can you tell which path feels better for you? Do you know, clearly, which one you want to become?
If not, chances are you're in your brain.
Are You In Your Brain?
You know your brain is too present if you start analyzing things. "Well
on this path this happens, which is good I guess, because of this…."
Ah-ah-ah – stop right there! Put your hand back on your heart, breathe and start over.
Imagine your awareness coming down from your brain and into your heart. Feel your energy center there.
You'll know you're in your heart-space as you walk down a path because you'll say "No, this one feels constricted" or "This one feels so open and wonderful". You are still making observations but you are not analyzing them.
"Ah, Yes!"
When you do this exercise from your heart you'll hit the sweet spot of
"clear knowing". You'll know in your heart-of-hearts, in this moment,
which path feels best to you.
It is important that you know which path feels best. The feeling path is the path your heart wants you to take. It is the path that leads you to your greatest joy.
Once you know the direction of your heart, you can allow your brain to have fun dealing with the regular stuff of life.
As the path you have chosen begins to unfold in your life you may find you're doubting yourself or you feel like you've changed your mind.
Need More Help?
No worries! Whenever you want to double-check yourself and the direction to take you can do this exercise again.
This way, you'll know you aren't turning back because of fear or because you are used to a difficult life. You can always know what your heart wants and consciously turn towards it.
Isn't that great?
What a great tool, Alora. I am going to try this right now! Thanks! You are the best!
